April 2018: Writing Begins
January 2020: Test reading began
A few selected interested friends begin reading and commenting on the novel, reviews overwhelming positive.
March 2020: Full rough draft finished
After nearly two years of sporadic writing, I finally have finished my novel and will begin to edit tomorrow, for now I need sleep.
April 2020: Began publication search
The surprise of finishing what began as a thought experiment left me wondering how in the world to publish this after all the hard work. Marketing is not my strongest skill.
April 2020: Lesson Plans/Additional materials outlined
The list of lesson plans seems quiet daunting but, after careful selection the documents and subject matter flowed naturally from questions my test readers were asking. I think I could teach a whole course on Colonial Native History from these documents and the novel.
May 2020: Full edit completed
Editing and revising is way more tedious than actually writing but alas I am finished. Admittedly, I expect some revision in the publication process.
June 2020: Promotional Website developed
I am always looking for ways to streamline the promotion of my various project, it seemed natural to develop a website to showcase the work going into the novel and a one-stop-shop for readers, teachers, but also publishers and agents. This will be an ongoing process and has inspired me to do one for each of the projects I am working on.
June 2020: 1st round of Queries and Manuscripts sent out
I have overcome the scary first step of writing and sending out four agent queries and two full manuscripts in the mail. Here we go.
June 2020: Website completion
Live and updated details of the novel are officially on my shiny new promotional website. I am beginning the Social Media campaign soon.
June 2020: Illustrations completed
All 24 illustrations are completed and I have collated both versions of the pdf for printing.
